There are only a few spots left for St. Catharines residents hoping to pick up a free tree this fall.
The City’s annual giveaway is happening Saturday, October 24th, with online registration available at stcatharines.ca/treegiveaway until all the trees are claimed.
Four varieties are being offered: Blue Beech, White Oak, Nannyberry and Ironwood. Pickups run from 8 to 11 a.m. at Lancaster Park, and residents must bring their confirmation QR code and proof they live in St. Catharines. Only one tree is available per household.
The program helps expand the city’s tree canopy, which can capture greenhouse gases, clean the air and reduce stormwater runoff.
The City says its spring and fall giveaways have helped put about 7000 trees on private properties across St. Catharines.
