Public asked for help identifying sexual assault suspect

Niagara Regional Police are appealing to the public for help identifying a suspect in connection with a sexual assault in Niagara Falls.

On Wednesday, August 27, at around 5:00 p.m., a youth shopping with his mother inside a store at the Town and Country Plaza on Portage Road was assaulted by an unknown man. The suspect groped the victim before fleeing the store on foot. He was last seen running northbound through the plaza.

Police describe the suspect as 25–35 years old, with an olive complexion, medium build, black hair, and a thick black beard. He was wearing a white ball cap, grey t-shirt, white and black plaid jacket, red track pants with a white side stripe, tan running shoes, and carrying a camouflage backpack.

Investigators ask anyone with information or who recognizes the suspect to contact the Sexual Assault Unit.
