Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division responded to several serious collisions across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area over the Civic long weekend.
One fatal incident occurred early Saturday, August 2, at approximately 1:30 a.m., when a westbound tractor trailer left the roadway on the QEW near Christie Street in Grimsby.
The vehicle entered the right-side ditch and rolled onto its side.
The 67-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The highway remained closed overnight and into the following morning to allow for investigation and vehicle recovery.
The OPP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
