It was a productive week for Niagara Region officials at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario
At the gathering, Regional Councillors and staff met with key provincial ministers to call for funding commitments on several fronts: a south Niagara wastewater treatment plant to support population growth, expanded affordable housing, physician recruitment, and additional child care spaces.
Regional Chair Jim Bradley also represented Niagara in joint discussions with mayors and regional chairs across Ontario, where topics included homelessness, municipal budgets, and infrastructure funding shortfalls.
The Region says many conversations will continue through follow-up meetings and at Niagara Week this fall, when local leaders will again present their case to provincial officials.
