Niagara Falls property owner fined $7500 over sprinkler system

The owner of a Niagara Falls property has been fined $7,500 after pleading guilty to multiple fire code violations.

The charges stemmed from failures to repair the building’s fire sprinkler system and maintain its private fire hydrants.

In a statement, Niagara Falls Fire Chief Jo Zambito stressed the importance of maintaining life safety systems to protect people and property during emergencies.

The fire department says this case serves as a warning to all property owners to comply with the Ontario Fire Code. Officials say the owner was given time to fix the issues but failed to comply, leading to the charges.
