Nearly $57-million announced to train more nurses in Ontario

The Ontario government is investing $56.8 million to train 2,200 more nurses, increasing enrollment opportunities at publicly funded colleges and universities.

The initiative is part of the province’s ongoing efforts to meet the rising demand for skilled health-care professionals across hospitals, long-term care homes, and community health centres.

In addition to traditional in-class education, the funding will expand flexible online programs that help personal support workers and registered practical nurses upgrade their qualifications.

Institutions like Niagara College and Brock University will play a key role in delivering these pathways to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Practical Nursing diploma.
