Niagara Regional Police say a pedestrian remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Friday evening in St. Catharines.
Officers with Niagara Regional Police Service were called to the area of Pelham Road and Monck Street at about 5:45 p.m. on Boxing Day.
The injured man was taken to an out-of-region hospital by Niagara Emergency Medical Services.
Police say the driver later returned to the scene, and 20-year-old Gurmeet Singh of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with failure to remain at the scene causing bodily harm.
Singh was released on an appearance notice, and the Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.
