Calum Cheynowski scored his first of the year and added an assist in a first star performance as the IceDogs downed Brampton 4-3 at the Meridian Centre Sunday afternoon.
Ryan Roobroeck's 19th of the season was the only goal of the opening twenty. His snap shot went five hole on the Steelheads netminder.
In period two, after Brampton drew even, new captain Ethan Czata scored his 15th on a slick move in close.
In the third, Cheynowski's blast from the left point picked the glove hand corner before Hayden Reid made it 4-1 on a breakaway effort. A couple late for the visitors made it close as the IceDogs improved to 5-1 on the season against Brampton. The two teams will meet again in Brampton Monday night. New Country 89.1 will have the call beginning at 6:45.
Earlier in the day, the IceDogs announced the trade of Kevin He to Flint. Along with Darcy Dewatcher and two picks, Niagara receives forward Chase Hull and 7 draft picks, highlighted by two second round selections in 2026.
