Niagara Regional Police are investigating animal cruelty involving horses in Welland.
Police were called by farm staff early Friday morning about a disturbing act of violence involving the horses near Buchner Road and Highway 140, and upon arrival found eight horses with injuries consistent with stab wounds, while one had died.
Officials say the other seven were treated for injuries by veterinarians.
Police are asking anyone with any information to reach out to authorities.
