With Terry Fox runs now just weeks away, one of our own is sharing her battle with cancer to help amplify the importance of getting yourself checked.
Darlene Check, morning show host on our brother-station 91.7 Giant FM, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year before undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments over the last ten months.
She says she wouldn't have known she had cancer if not for a lucky accident.
She says getting yourself checked could be the difference.
In the lead up to this year's Terry Fox Runs across Niagara, Darlene and the team at Giant FM have entered a team called 'Giant Knockerz' for the St. Catharines event - encouraging fans of the station to take part alongside Darlene and station staff.
You can make a donation here, and register to take part in the run alongside Darlene and Giant FM by texting "DARLENE" to 905-732-6917. The run is September 14th at Lakeside Park in St. Catharines.
