Wainfleet Fire & Emergency Services has been awarded more than $33,000 through the first year of Ontario’s new Fire Protection Grant.
The funding will be directed toward cancer prevention initiatives and enhanced firefighter safety, supporting the purchase of advanced decontamination systems and additional personal protective equipment.
Part of a three-year, $30-million provincial program introduced in the 2024 Budget, the grant prioritizes firefighter health and safety.
By investing in specialized equipment for the decontamination of bunker gear, breathing apparatus, and firefighting tools, Wainfleet aims to reduce the risks associated with carcinogen exposure and safeguard the long-term health of its frontline responders.
