The City of St. Catharines is calling on residents to help rename some of its outdoor space in Port Dalhousie.
The property, which is located at 45 Lakeport Road near Main Street, once served as Lock 1 for the second Welland Canal between 1845 and 1935.
In 2018, the space was revamped as an outdoor event space, with a stage and terraced seating built into the lock.
For naming nominations, the city is requesting that submissions reflect and acknowledge the area's history, heritage and environment. Residents can submit their naming suggestions until Friday, June 20 at 4:30pm, while voting will happen throughout the summer, with a name will being presented to council by fall.
