The Ontario government is investing $135 million in water and irrigation infrastructure, with Niagara Region receiving the largest share.
Niagara will get roughly $94 million, including $53 million for six water system projects to unlock up to 14,000 new homes and $41 million for irrigation pipelines to support hundreds of farms and agri-businesses.
Officials say the upgrades will protect farmland, strengthen the local economy, and keep workers employed, while ensuring a reliable water supply for tender fruit and grape growers.
The province says the investments are part of a broader $200 billion plan to modernize infrastructure, boost food security, and prepare Ontario communities for future growth.
