One suspect arrested in Welland break and enter, police searching for second suspect

Break in at St. Kevin's Catholic Church causes $20,000 in damage

Niagara Regional Police are asking for help identifying a suspect connected to a break-and-enter at St. Kevin’s Catholic Church in Welland.

On March 11, officers responded to a call at the Niagara Street church and discovered that two suspects had broken into a building housing the church’s commercial air conditioning units.

Investigators say the suspects dismantled parts of the units, causing roughly $20,000 in damage, and later sold the stolen materials to a recycling facility.

One suspect, 34-year-old Jacob Golden of Welland, was arrested on May 26 and charged. The second suspect remains unidentified.

He is described as a white male, between 5’8” and 5’10” with a medium build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a grey hooded jacket, grey sweatshirt, grey jeans, and grey running shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Niagara Regional Police.
