Derek Langlois recognized for helping stabbing victim while off duty
A Niagara Regional paramedic has been recognized with a prestigious medal for his courageous actions.
While off duty on May 13, 2023, Derek Langlois was alerted that a neighbour had been stabbed outside her home. Despite not knowing if the attacker was still nearby, he immediately responded and provided life-saving care to stabilize her.
This week, Langlois was awarded the Ontario Medal for Paramedic Bravery by the Honourable Michael Tulloch, joining a select group of just seven recipients this year.
