Niagara Health has confirmed that Welland Hospital has returned to normal operations after flooding earlier this summer caused by a burst pipe.
Repairs and remediation were completed in several affected areas, including the Medical Device Reprocessing department, operating rooms, and patient care spaces. Following environmental safety checks, all services have now resumed.
Meanwhile, work continues at Niagara Falls Hospital following a July water main break. The incident caused only minor disruptions at the time, and most services have been running as normal since shortly after the event.
Niagara Health emphasized that the two incidents were very different in scope, which resulted in different timelines for recovery.
Officials credited staff, physicians, and partners for their professionalism and teamwork in maintaining safe, high-quality care for patients during both events.
