House of Commons to sit today, Speech from the Throne to be held tomorrow

King to deliver Throne Speech tomorrow

The House of Commons resumes sitting today, marking the first day of the 45th Parliament under Prime Minister Mark Carney.

All members of Parliament will be sworn in, including Carney for Nepean, and the next Speaker of the House will be chosen in a vote by all members.

Tomorrow the Speech from the Throne will be delivered by the King himself, outlining the first priorities of the government, officially beginning the parliamentary session.

Parliament has not sat since December.
