Niagara NDP MPPs Wayne Gates and Jennie Stevens are calling on the Ford government to commit funding to the South Niagara Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The infrastructure project has been stalled, leading to rising costs and growing concerns about meeting housing targets according to the pair. Gates and Stevens say the lack of support reflects unfair treatment of Niagara compared to other regions, pointing to the billions allocated to projects like Highway 413.
They argue communities like Niagara shouldn’t be left behind or forced to raise property taxes to fund essential services like clean water infrastructure.
