Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates has written an open letter to the Minister of Long-Term Care, asking for a reversal.
In the letter, Gates calls on Minister Natalia Kusendova-Bashta to scrap a proposal that would remove long-term care inspection reports from public access after three years.
Gates says the change would undermine transparency, citing a report from the Canadian Armed Forces during COVID-19 that revealed neglect in long-term care homes across the province.
As it currently stands, over 30,000 LTC home inspection reports are posted online - dating back over 15 years.
