Flu cases on the rise in Niagara Region as winter gets colder

Flu and other illnesses are increasing in Niagara as the busy holiday season approaches.

Niagara Region Public Health and Niagara Health are urging residents to get vaccinated to help protect the community and reduce strain on hospitals.

Free flu and COVID-19 vaccines are available for everyone six months and older, and both can be received at the same time.

Residents can book through their doctor, pharmacy, or the Public Health website, and should also ask their provider about RSV eligibility.

You are also reminded that not all respiratory symptoms require emergency care, and that for non-urgent needs, residents are encouraged to use primary care, walk-in clinics, pharmacies, or virtual care options.
