Team responded to 31 calls in 2024
South Shore Search And Rescue has a new enclosed trailer to help volunteers respond faster and more safely to marine emergencies.
Thanks to support from the Niagara Community Foundation and the David S. Howes Fund, the trailer will store life-saving equipment like helmets, life jackets, and floater suits at Fifty Point Marina — right next to their rescue boat.
The new trailer not only improves response times, but also protects gear from damage caused by poor storage.
It can also serve as a mobile command unit during larger search operations.
In 2024, the team responded to 31 calls with an average response time of just over 14 minutes.
