The union representing roughly 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants could give notice of its intent to strike if an agreement isn’t reached by the end of today, according to The Canadian Press.
The earliest a work stoppage could begin is Saturday at 12:01 a.m. Under labour rules, the union must provide 72 hours’ notice, meaning a strike notice could be issued as early as Wednesday at 12:01 a.m.
Air Canada said Monday it remains at the bargaining table and is focused on achieving a negotiated settlement to avoid any travel disruptions.
For now, flights are operating as scheduled, but the airline says it will alert customers by email and text if any changes occur before their travel date. For passengers whose itineraries are disrupted mid-journey, Air Canada says it will explore all available options, including rebooking with other carriers.
