Three days of festivities planned to celebrate Canada Day & Thorold's 50th anniversary
With Canada Day now just a week away, the City of Thorold is once again preparing to welcome thousands to Battle of Beaverdams Park for multiple days of festivities - with something for everyone.
Mayor Terry Ugulini says the three days of festivities will start on Sunday, and usually sees visitors from across the region - despite events in bigger cities.
Mayor Ugulini adds that it typically gets pretty busy, so it's best to come prepared.
On Sunday, the Niagara Jazz Festival will be running the soundtrack for visitors.
Co-creator and Executive Artistic Producer Juliet Dunn says there will be lots of music throughout the day, with no breaks in between.
Dunn adds that free music is important to offer, as it can often be a big experience for young kids that may not be able to attend concerts elsewhere.
The festivities will continue on Monday with North American Blues musicians at the popular Rock ‘N Blues event from 3:00pm to 10:00pm. On Tuesday, the City is celebrating its 50th anniversary at 1:00pm, showcasing a Wall of Reflection and a massive birthday card for residents to sign. All three days will also include artisans, community booths, and food vendors.
Fireworks will close the three-day celebrations at 10:00pm Tuesday evening. For full details, visit the city's website: Canada Day - City of Thorold
