What's Good in Niagara? Police urging residents to look out for kids while driving

Drivers urged to slow driving, and stay aware for kids playing outside

School is almost over, and kids are getting excited to leave the four walls of the classroom behind.

Sgt. Ed Sanchuk with the West Region OPP is reminding drivers to stay alert and cautious as children transition into summer routines and spend more time outside.

Sanchuk is urging drivers to slow down, stay aware of their surroundings, and for parents to have important safety conversations with their children as the school year wraps up.

This week is also a great time for parents and guardians to revisit the “stranger danger” conversation, especially as kids begin spending more time outdoors or at home alone.

Sanchuk wants everyone to enjoy a fun and safe summer. He says following the rules of the road and having proactive conversations with your children is a solid first step toward making that happen.
