What's Good in Niagara? Canal Days ready for biggest year yet

Headliners were announced Thursday during launch event

Canal Days 2025 is set to be one of the biggest events in the festival's history.

The annual August long-weekend marine festival, known for drawing thousands to Port Colborne every year, named Sloan (Friday), Big Sugar (Friday), Finger Eleven (Saturday), The Trews (Saturday), and Main Street Music (Sunday) as headliners on Thursday.

Port Colborne Mayor William Steele says the festival has become a staple over the last 47 years, putting the city on the map.

Steele adds that the festival extends well past just enjoying live music, as it produces lots of money for businesses in the area as well.

This year, the capacity at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park has been expanded to welcome up to 15,000 guests each night. However, these free shows are very popular and festivalgoers are encouraged to arrive early. Gates open at 6:00pm.

The City has made several security upgrades to ensure a safe, family-friendly experience, including working with a festival security expert and adjusting the concert layout and entrances to improve crowd flow. This comes after an incident last summer during a Billy Talent set, where fences were knocked over after the park reached capacity. A new security team, in coordination with emergency management partners, will oversee all safety measures on-site.

In addition to live music, Canal Days will feature local vendors and tallship cruises, in addition to a number of other festivities for residents and visitors alike to enjoy.

This year's Canal Days will be held August 1st to 4th.
