Upson averaged better than a point per game in her NCAA career

Stoney Creek's Vanessa Upson is one step closer to playing in the PWHL.

Upson, who has been playing in the NCAA for Mercyhurst University for the past four seasons, was selected in the fifth round of the PWHL draft by the defending Walter Cup Champion Minnesota Frost.

In collegiate hockey, Upson has scored 147 points with 65 goals in 148 games - missing just four combined games over four years. She played her minor hockey years with the Stoney Creek Sabres before commiting to the NCAA.

The 2025-2026 PWHL season is expected to start in the winter.
