Niagara On The Lake launches StopGap Ramp Program

Niagara-on-the-Lake Council has endorsed the launch of the StopGap Ramp Program, a new initiative designed to improve storefront accessibility throughout the town.

Rooted in the Town’s Strategic Plan and commitment to inclusion, the program aims to reduce physical barriers, especially for seniors, people with disabilities, and the millions of visitors who explore the area annually.

Older buildings often feature steps that limit access for those with mobility challenges.

The StopGap ramps—provided free of charge to eligible businesses—will be distributed this fall on a first-come, first-served basis.

Interested business owners can apply through the Town’s website. Feedback from participants will help shape future accessibility efforts.
