Niagara College students are tackling food insecurity by launching a community vegetable garden at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Led by Horticultural Technician graduate Robert Pastirik, the garden is supported by the College’s Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services and the Teaching Greenhouse.
Twelve raised beds, donated by Conquest Steel, now grow beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, herbs, and more for students in need.
With added support from Walker Industries and West Coast Seeds, the garden promotes food sustainability while helping stock the Rise and Shine breakfast program.
